Review by Kat aka Tuff Bong Records and Izzy Dunfore's #01 Bitch
Izzy Dunfore's small town background is a refreshing taste after so many gangster-rap artists flooded the Hip Hop scene.
Track one is Intro performed by DJ Starscream which showcases a snippet from each of the tracks to come.
Track two is the full length I'm The One which features high speed lyricism over a pounding bass-line. The best introduction to what is to come, although not the strongest track on the album.
Track three is Check This Out calls on who did not support him in the early days, and shows them just how wrong they were...slightly more melodic backing over slower lyrics.
Track four That It Does Izzy Dunfore gets the party going with That It Does. Probably what would be expected from a hip hop artist, but still hip hop of very good quality! Light-hearted lyrics over catchy beats.
Track five I Miss You (Feat. Chris Ranallo) demonstrates a melodic chorus sung by Chris Ranallo. This song makes you want to dance. In a good way. Still a pounding bass to bop to.
Track six Attitude is a slightly darker song in which Izzy Dunfore calls on all the low quality emcees and credits DJ Starscream- Sid, for Izzy's recent successes and the album itself. Attitude comes across as being more aggressive as the other tracks, but still a killer song with a strong beat and catchy lyrics.
Track seven Taxstamp (Feat. DJ Starscream) The most striking thing about this tune is the juxtaposition between the deep, slow voice repeating about American Tax stamps directly over the top of a light backing. Izzy's lyrics are faster again, more complex and impressively catching rhymes. The slowed chorus contrasts greatly between the verses, creating a more chilled song. Taxstamp also demonstrates DJ Starscream's killer skills.
Track eight Bootlegger Skit (DJ Blenz) A short break between the parts of the album in which a guy attempts to sell illegal copies of Izzy Dunfore's CDs and gets busted...
Track nine Out The Box is the second most aggressive song on the album, with a slow introduction leading to a perfectly timed rant about the police force and his home city, Des Moines. This song flows very well, steady without being slow. You can hear his passion for his art in his voice and the rhythm of the song will have anybody nodding their head.
Track ten I'll Give You Mo' This song is a story about a guy at a club trying to persuade a girl back to his place after a party. A strong, steady beat that might just hit the spot between two people trying to get closer.
Track eleven Essence of Dunfore (Feat. Fate) A short demonstration of Fate's skills on the turntables. If there is anything wrong with this, it is that it is too short! A short introduction to the guy's feelings on Marijuana.
Track twelve Excuse Me (Feat DJ Starscream) Fast paced fun song about how Izzy has experienced being stereotyped because he is from Iowa, a Mid-western state in America surrounded by fields and farming communities. Izzy Dunfore and DJ Starscream work together perfectly on this song, the fast rhymes over the steady piano and background beats. This song will make you think it is cool NOT to live in a city...
Track thirteen Get High is the song that all hip-hop albums need, a song about drug consumption. Slow and steady with a heavy beat. Samples of someone saying "Get High" run in the background. Izzy props Tuff Bong Records during this song whilst explaining how he relaxes...
Track fourteen What You Wanna Do (Feat. Tara Dobson) Izzy quickens the pace for this song, to demonstrate the male perspective of trying to persuade a girl to "hook up" and Tara's lyrics show the females point of view, gently teasing without being explicit. Strong beat, a great song for the lovers...
Track fifteen Never easily one of the best songs on the album, Izzy decries all those who said he would never make it, an easy song to listen to, neither the lyrics nor the bass are particularly obtrusive. Izzy's humour shines through and the sing-along chorus is inspiring. This song not only makes you want to party and enjoy yourself, but also respect everybody around you and succeed in your own life.
Track sixteen Battle Rap Skit a humorous, short skit in which Izzy Dunfore demonstrates his off-the-cuff style against a mock less-talented artist.
Track seventeen Bump That Beat (Feat. Brandi Power) The best song on the album. Already well established as an Anthem, this is a favourite among Dunfore Fans. A fast paced verse followed by a sing-along chorus naming the main forces behind the album, Izzy D, Starscream plus Mustache Pete! Possibly the most explicit lyric-heavy song but the strongest and most fun by far! Warning: May make you want to drive fast...
Track eighteen That's All Right (Feat. Laura Warwick) This song is the most diverse by far, Izzy Dunfore's rhymes are broken up by English singer Laura Warwick's soulful voice. The piano accompaniment sets this song in a different league to any other hip-hop. Izzy is communicating his heart on this song, trying to explain his actions and passions to others. The wonderful contrast between the beautifully sung chorus and by more masculine verses makes for a perfect conflict.
Track nineteen Mama Meant (Feat. Chris Ranallo) Chris is back from I Miss You, this song could easily be radio-friendly. Izzy Dunfore's lyricism is slower and powerful as Chris sings the chorus, Izzy explains how he is finding out that life isn't easy...and maybe that's what mama meant...

IZZY DUNFORE (Self titled)
This album is amazing from start to finish.
You can hear Sid Wilson's ( DJ STARSCREAM) paws are all over this... and mass kudos to him for knowing a damn good artist in IZZY.!
Izzy is one of the nicest guys you could meet, and yes, i have had that pleasure. His dedication and love for his work screams out all over this CD from the first to the last beat.
I'M THE ONE is a big fav, as is THAT IT DOES.
This album has an "all age" appeal, which is a rarity.
I highly recommend this album to anyone... even those (like myself) that as a rule are not usually into this kind of music... but you just cant help it!!.
It really DOES grab you, and get in your veins. You find yourself singing along to it without even realising it.
Plain and simple... if you get one album in the next year. Make sure its THIS one.
CD BABY had it delivered to me within a matter of DAYS.
